Sneznik Castle

Sneznik Castle is a 13th-century castle in the southwestern Lodz Valley, near the settlement of Kozarish in the Slovenian town of Los Cardolina. Coincidentally, its name is the same as the Slovenian verb sneg “snow”, but is actually the Slovenian form of the royal family name Schneberg, which is the origin of the royal family’s Schnebe estate winner. The construction date of the castle is unknown; The castle itself was first mentioned in 1461 as Sneberk’s manor. At that time it was the property of the Patriarchate of Aquileia, of which the Schneeberg family was the leader.
