SINGAPORE 🇸🇬 SLING

The Singapore Sling is a world-famous cocktail that originated at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore in the early 20th century, credited to bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. Here’s a classic recipe to make your own Singapore Sling:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1/2 ounce cherry liqueur (like Cherry Heering)
  • 1/4 ounce Cointreau
  • 1/4 ounce benedictine
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/3 ounce grenadine
  • 1 dash bitters (Angostura is commonly used)
  • Club soda (optional, to top off)
  • Garnish: maraschino cherry and a slice of pineapple

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a shaker filled with ice, combine the gin, cherry liqueur, Cointreau, Benedictine, pineapple juice, lime juice, grenadine, and bitters.
  2. Shake: Shake well until the mixture is properly chilled.
  3. Strain: Strain the mixture into a highball glass filled with ice.
  4. Top Off: If desired, top off the cocktail with a splash of club soda for a bit of fizz.
  5. Garnish: Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a slice of pineapple.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy this classic, refreshing cocktail.

The Singapore Sling is both fruity and complex, a perfect example of a classic cocktail that has stood the test of time. Enjoy responsibly!
