  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Oil for frying

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  5. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Dip each zucchini flower into the batter, making sure it is fully coated.
  7. Place the coated zucchini flower in the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  9. Repeat with the remaining zucchini flowers and batter.
  10. Serve hot as an appetizer or side dish.

Zucchini flower fritters are delicious on their own, but if you want to serve them with a dipping sauce, here are a few options:

  1. Garlic aioli: Mix together mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt to taste. This creamy and garlicky sauce pairs well with the crispiness of the fritters.
  2. Marinara sauce: Serve the fritters with a side of marinara sauce for a classic Italian twist.
  3. Tzatziki sauce: Combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt to taste. This refreshing and tangy sauce complements the delicate flavor of the zucchini flowers.
  4. Sweet chili sauce: If you prefer a spicy and sweet sauce, serve the fritters with a side of sweet chili sauce.

A few tips to make your zucchini flower fritters extra crispy:

  1. Use cold ingredients: Use cold milk and egg for the batter. This helps to create a crispier texture when the fritters are fried.
  2. Don’t overmix the batter: Mix the batter just until it is combined. Overmixing can lead to a denser batter, resulting in less crispy fritters.
  3. Use a shallow frying pan: Using a shallow frying pan with just enough oil to cover the bottom will help to create a crispy crust on the fritters.
  4. Fry in small batches: Fry the fritters in small batches to prevent overcrowding the pan, which can cause the fritters to steam instead of fry and result in less crispy fritters.
  5. Drain excess oil: After frying the fritters, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. This will help to keep them crisp.

To make your zucchini flower fritters less greasy, here are a few tips:

  1. Use a light batter: A batter that is too thick or heavy can absorb more oil and make the fritters greasy. Use a light batter with a thin consistency, which will help to create a crispy texture without absorbing too much oil.
  2. Use a non-stick pan: Instead of a traditional frying pan, try using a non-stick pan to fry the fritters. This will require less oil and can help to prevent the fritters from sticking to the pan.
  3. Drain excess oil: After frying the fritters, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. This will help to remove any excess oil from the fritters and make them less greasy.
  4. Serve immediately: Fritters are best served immediately after frying. If you let them sit too long, they can become.

To make the batter for your zucchini flower fritters lighter it’s very important:

  1. Use a combination of flour and cornstarch: Cornstarch is a lighter alternative to flour, and using a combination of the two can help to create a lighter batter. Try using 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup cornstarch in the batter recipe.
  2. Use sparkling water: Instead of regular milk or water, try using sparkling water in the batter. The carbonation in the water can help to make the batter lighter and crispier.
  3. Add beaten egg whites: Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks and beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Then fold the beaten egg whites into the batter just before frying. This will add air to the batter and create a lighter texture.
  4. Use a lighter beer: If you want to add a beer batter to the fritters, try using a lighter beer such as a lager or pilsner. Darker beers can make the batter heavier and denser.

By following these tips, you can make your zucchini flower fritter batter lighter and more delicate, resulting in a crispier and more delicious fritter.
